Is NYH confidential?

It is always our intention to keep calls to NYH confidential, but if we are very worried about your safety because the situation you say you are in makes us think your life or the life of someone else is being threatened, we will talk to you about the need for other people to know. Your NYH counselor will only take action if they feel it's an emergency.

You don't have to give your name or any other details when you call us, so if you want to talk to us anonymously, this is fine. Of course it is more difficult for us to take action if you don't give us any information about you.

NYH does not make audio recordings of calls, although we do make written case notes of calls. NYH counseling supervisors may also listen in to your call to make sure that we can help you the best we can.

The number will still appear in your list of dialed calls on your cell phone. If you don't want people to see the number you should delete this from your called number list.
